It looks a lot like a Mosin Nagant barrel to me, especially the rear sight.
B.B.
Mauser without any doubt. Not K98.
Man that barrel has seen better days! 98k barrels were around 24 inches. How long is that one?
Hello
Thank you all for your help and information

Hi again,
Pre WW2 for me. Nationality unknown, Belgian, South American or German, but provision for a handguard englobing the sightbase.
Luc
Mauser barrel but not K98. Front of the sight base is bridged toward the top of the pivot ears. Turkish Mausers had that feature as well as post war Yugo's (probably some of the South American ones too). K98's rear sight pivot ears are separate. The oversize slotted screw in the front of the sight base tells me it's probably Turkish.
Here is a K98 sight base.
Here is the turkish base.
Again the big clue here would be where was this found? Location so often will help, (but not guarantee) the elimination of items which then alows for a better confirmation of the item!
