Here is a little something I picked up and am quite happy with. So what do we have here? At first it looks like a standard M75 Kradfahrer helmet... but there are a few twists. Those with eagle eyes might notice them. The guy it came from also had an earlier standardised version.
Well, the liner is a large size and has been professionally fitted to a standard combat liner! It shows a few field repairs to the skirt which is grey leather rather than green, again all professionally done, not doubt by the QM. It‘s 96 dated. I have seen from standard helmets how resourseful the QM was, making the best of the equipment they had, although I didn‘t know that concerned these DR liners aswell.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!
Here is my new member of the collection: Austrian M75.....
I wonder if this M75 was used for re-enactment as the Chinstrap looks to be US 1940's period

I've had the guys on from the Guinness Book of Records...apparently there's been a record gap in the posts about this most interesting helmet........
'just sayin'
;-)
Unsure if this example fits in here but wanted to share my Ballistic test subject Austrian M75 example with earlier M58 type liner webbing ,Guessing here but most likely from the 1980's time period before the introduction of the M92 composite ,construction wise it is a moulded plastic bonded exterior and interior liner sandwiching an Aramid fibre protective weave
Welcome to the club JC.....these have been a discussion point on FB for a little while. There appears to be 3 models including a one which went to South Africa for the SF (See Eric’s model on “Composite”. There’s also a PASGT-shaped model and a CVC option too.....
Thanks Ade Austria must of put a lot of time and effort in developing there own ballistic helmets and of various designs too which seem to have been released recently on the surplus market ,i had to pull the trigger on the Buy It Now as i instantly recognised the SA export model of which i am currently putting back to It's former glory using my surplus Austrian parts bin ,Composite and Eric Lacaze's example have been a most helpful resource for the restoration so far mate
