Hello,
Another transitional helmet for the M1968 lining is the 6 rivet and 3 hole helmet.
This model is one of three rare transitional helmets.
the nine-rivet helmet
East German M56 - Nine Rivet Helmet
the six-rivet helmet
East German M56 - Six Rivet Helmet
and the six-rivet and three-hole helmet
East German M56 - Six Rivet Three Holes Helmet
Older helmet shells were also used here, as with the 9 rivet helmet, but the 3 old rivet holes - for whatever reason - were not closed.
The reason was the poor quality of the first welded pins or the fact that the contractors commissioned could not carry out this type of fastening.
Other information speaks of a troop attempt from 1965.
The three holes don't exactly make the helmet particularly water or bulletproof.
Nevertheless, as you can tell by the signs of wear, the helmet was used intensively for a long time.
Liner and chin strap have been replaced later.
