Default Complement for Flächentarn helmet covers.

Complementing Sleepwalker latest post here is my Flächentarn also nicknamed Kartoffelmuster (potato camo) or Blumentarn (flower camo) 1964 jacket with hood.

The interesting aspect is that the hood is large enough to cover the helmet if necessary. A net is attached to the hood as with the previous covers. Enjoy

    Hello,

yes, the firmly sewn hoods could also be pulled over the helmet. Small hooks were usually available for this purpose.
That was probably fashionable in the 1950s. The Bundeswehr had something comparable.
But that turned out to be very impractical. A separate reference was therefore introduced.

Here is the first model of the helmet cover / hood in Strichtarn (Line camouflage) from 1965-1966.
The early pattern is called "Strichtarn 1". The background color is a lighter olive. The strokes are finer and darker. Depending on the manufacturer and resources, the colors may differ slightly.

The Hood / helmet cover corresponds in section and equipment to the 2nd model of "Flächentarn (surface camouflage) helmet cover / hood. It can be buttoned onto the uniform jacket and has a fly net held in place by tabs with a bordered edge.

With a quality control stamp from the "Technische Kontrollorganisation" TKO (technical control organization). The TKO was the structural unit responsible for ensuring the quality of incoming goods and finished products.

In 1967 there were changes to the hood/helmet covers in East Germany. In the course of 1967, "Strichtarn 1" (line camouflage pattern 1) was replaced by "Strichtarn 2" camouflage pattern 2.
The "Strichtarn 2" had a darker base color and the lines were narrower and wider. There are numerous color differences depending on the manufacturer and the respourche.

There were also changes / simplifications in the cut and equipment of the articles.
The hoods / helmet covers could no longer be buttoned. Among other things, the borders of the fly nets were omitted in the course of this year.
Due to these changes, there were numerous mixed forms, since the existing material was used up first.

Here is a hood/helmet cover from the 1st quarter of 1967. It still consists of the mint green fabric in "Strichtarn 1". The hood/cover can no longer be buttoned and shows slight changes/simplifications in the cut and equipment.

Here is a rare hybrid. Cut and finish are the same as the Eastgerman 1967-1968 model.

The fabric is the rare sandy yellow color in "Strichtran 1" (line camouflage pattern 1).

Here is a pure form of the Eastgerman version from 1967-1968 in Strichtarn 2.
Recognizable by the missing buttonholes, the missing edge binding of the mosquito veil and other small changes. The lower hem remained wide in this variation.
