Article about: Dusted off a few helmets recently and thought i would start a thread showing a few of my Groupings and will add more as time goes on and seeing as my favorite collecting genre is the cold wa

    The American six-color desert pattern "chocolate chip" was mainly used by the USA between 1981 and 1991.
    Since it as been adopted, copied as such or with different colours by many countries. It is still popular today.

    Great desert grouping Jack, I wonder if the Spanish covers with those 45 degree angle Foliage loops was a design copied from the German helmet covers of WW2 period

    Dug out a couple of my favourite choc chip desert camo examples, firstly a United Arab Emirates troops M87 South African export model next a New Zealand Armasure with export cover and lastly an Iraqi post Saddam period PASGT with locally produced cover Helmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo covers

    US APH-6A flight helmet circa 1968 with subdued choc chip camo scheme possible used by a Bronco OV-10 pilot perhaps ,next up a been there British Para helmet with US choc chip scrim covering over the British desert dpm cover and lastly this Desert storm used bring back from the 24th Infantry Division with corporal rank insignia to the front and the V marking present on both sides Helmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo covers

    The Franco government inspired itself from the German M35 helmet for their new helmet adopted in1942. Yes also the camouflage loops of the German Army covers were also a strong influence for the design of Spanish helmet covers.

    Thanks for your thoughts and comment Jack on the German influence on post World War Two Spain and there helmet design and covers moving forward post war to well into the next century

    Kuwaiti derivative of the British disruptive pattern camo in the four colour pattern worn atop an Iraqi M90 which is a paired set bring back from that time period ,this cover had been procured by the Iraqis as they raided Kuwaiti stores during there invasion of Kuwait which in turn brought on the Coalition led 1991 Persian gulf war ,Helmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo coversHelmets and Camo covers
