M1951 BePo Bavaria

Hi, mates,
wanna show You this M1951 helmet of the Bereitschaftspolizei ( BePo ) of Bayern (Bavaria).
Commonly referred as "Franz Josef Strauß -helmet".

The helmet isn´t in a good condition, but, (IMO), still collectable.

The helmet is personalized.
The maker: Linnemann & Schnetzer

There´re some different decals known.
AFAIK this particular helmet shows the "latest" decal.

Hello,

you already have the 3rd and last model of the Bavarian police helmet here.

These were painted over quite sloppily and provided with a sticker badge.
You can still see the old / original color inside the shell dome.

Another "Bavarian"

Shell manifacured by LS / Linnemann & Schnetzer in size 64
Liner size: 55

The "Vereinfachte Innenfutter" / simplified inner lining is connected to the helmet by three rivets.
Felt discs serve as spacers between the helmet lining ring and the dome.
The chin strap is attached to the lining ring.

Collectors refer to helmets with such a liner as
1951 pattern, or M35 with a "simplified interior 31".

Nevertheless, the shell largely corresponds in shape and workmanship to the Wehrmacht's M40 steel helmet, but was completely manufactured after 1945.

The helmet, originally painted smooth police green, was changed to the new one in the 1970s Police paint 'Moss Green' painted over without removing the lining.
The moss green color extends to just before the inner lining and the cork "spacers" were often painted over...

The Bavarian police star consists of a sticker.

the last of three manifestations of the Bavaria Police helmet.






The helmets were prepared this way from old stock starting in 1974. No more new ones were purchased. Unfortunately the work was very sloppy.
