Default MK 1 US? Soviet re-issue

    Note from Admin:
I've moved that helmet from other destination, because I think they are the part of the helmet which need to be discussed. Here is interesting re-iisue from Far East of Russia, and most probably sent by Antanta triple union to Russia in 1918, most of them re-issued and remarked with Soviet depot tags and dated 1924. The" Z" one is with original Soviet paint

I also have a few of these, comments and info are welcome

As I remember that is interesting helmet and I bought them from Far East, most of them was re-stamped with sowiet markings and date 1924 year. I think it's a Antanta sent to Russian White army and then re-issued by soviets. That helmet needs to be moved to Soviet area

So you think this helmet was send immediately to Russia for reissue?
The helmet was never used in Estonia?
What about that insigne? any idea what it could be?

Is this still the original Englisch liner?

a lot of questions I know, but still a lot to learn about these helmets.

    Hi,
the top pic shown looks like it has split rivets on the chin strap bales,
If so it is a British mk1. The U.S, type M17 helmet had solid rivets on the bales, hope this helps.

Hi Ivan, the liner in the first helmet is standard issue. The second might be too, but it is harder to judge due to the paint.

    Very interesting items!

    Cheers, Ade.

split rivets on the chin strap bales, so Englisch MK1

also note the three layers of paint on the inside. kaki, dark blue and grey.
