West German Paratropper Experimental Helmet Modell Römer/LS 1957-1959

now a third model of the experimental helmets of the German paratroopers 1956-1959. This model was also compiled by the Schuberth Werke. The interior fittings come from Schuberth and the shell probably from Linnemann & Schnetzer.

The helmet shell was framed at the bottom with a stainless steel rim.
The helmet shell appears to have been made from a different shell mold with the lower edge cut off. Possibly from an M1940/53 blank without any ventilation holes having been punched in beforehand??

The inner helmet is based on the Wehrmacht's 1938 model. In addition to leather, it was made from the then modern materials of plastic and various foams.

The interior of this model is held in place by 4 wheel screws.
A special type of chin strap was also tested here.

Shell, interior and chin strap did not prove successful in trials and were not produced as a standard series.

Very nice examples and great to see the differences side on ,the top example has a noticeable drooped bill
