Hi Guys, thanks for all the wishes.

We took a week's holiday in Wales last week for my birthday. We did nothing but steam railways all week. The weather was pretty kind to us. We went up Mt. Snowdon, which is the highest peak in England and Wales. We didn't climb! but took the train. When we reached the summit it was covered in cloud.

Life at the moment is really centered around the family. My Dad is now 90 and finally getting the care he needs which Lez and I have been doing alone the past 5 years. My daughter Charlotte has been diagnosed with breast cancer, aged 40 and Mum to six children. Been a nightmare few months but she is having her operation on Thursday.

Work continues to be very busy and of course very enjoyable doing my hobby all day and getting paid for it.

    Cheers, Ade.

My better half has been battling ( and recovering thankfully ) from thyroid cancer for most of the year. Sure knocks the wind out of one's sails, we wish all success for your daughter's treatment.

    Ade & Danmark,

Sorry to hear that lads. I can both empathise and sympathise. It has dogged the female line on my side of the family for years and my wife suffered liver and bowel cancel at the same time but she is 10 years clear now and as much as it pains me to admit it she is fitter than me

@Ade, the last time I was on Mt Snowdon was as a young "Tom" circa 1975 and "enjoyed" a timed tab up the Pyg Track and Crib Goch (aka Knife edge) to the summit. Carrying weight it was certainly "aerobic" and we actually imagined for a moment that we would ride down on the railway. That is until we found ourselves "enjoying" a brisk stroll down the Southern route between Glaswyn and Llyn Lydaw to end up back where we started at Pen Y Pass. We all slept well that night!

    Glad you enjoyed it

    Regards

    Mark

    All my support Ade.
Yesterday afternoon my sister Maria (60 YO) had her breast cancer operated on. Her prognosis is good. It is hard, but they are incredibly strong.

    Thanks Guys.

Hi Mark, Lez did Snowdon back in the early 1980's when she was in the WRAC. She was told they were going "Hill Walking" and after getting to the top and seeing the railway was not happy! LOL
