If it's been treated with oxalic acid, that can affect the colour of the paint. As there's no fresh rust on it, I'd wager that's the cause.

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

I’m delighted for you MAP!
Update: one of the helmets has suddenly shown as passing through a mail facility in Australia today. It left the US on on the 6th September and was last heard of as being in China on the 14th.
This means it has overtaken the earlier one that was last tracked in China (with the same status) on 2nd September. Don’t know if this is a good sign, that one of them with this status is moving again, or bad that the earlier one is still in the black hole!?
Only time will tell!
Andy
Rusty, do you mean over here in Australia or in China?
Either country. When I bought my helmet from SF, the info said it could arrive as late as November, due to the country quarantining some items being sent to different countries. I would imagine China or Australia would do something similar (although it's not like China helped us prevent it in the first place).
I checked the status of my package, and from what I understand, it's already heading for its destination country, aka the U.S.
