1917 Army Light?

Article about: Hi guys, I bought this light etc for the princely sum of £4.00 today, i dont know what it was used for but the case is marked M&AH 1917 /|\\ and the lights are marked O.T. BANKS & Co

    Hi guys,

    I bought this light etc for the princely sum of £4.00 today, i dont know what it was used for but the case is marked M&AH 1917 /|\ and the lights are marked O.T. BANKS & Co Ltd 1917 /|\. They are too big for pushbike use, what do you think they were used for? planes?.....

    Donnie,

    Just a guess, maybe for artillery aiming posts or director?

    We had similar things up to the 90s for Abbot/M109 ( one green one red so you know which is near or far to acount for paralax ) etc but it was a nuclear light source, very dim but with the magnifying lens very visible when viewed straight on and remained tactical?
