    Nice one Dave. Sorry. Just saw this.

    Wonder what the strap on the top is for? To pull someone out of the cockpit?

    THANKS .....many seem to think a piece of material was attached to it ,and used to clean the grime and oil from the engine... from their goggles????

    I really love these Jo Jacobs helmets, one just sold on ebay and I have two. The earflaps are crazy. Yours is in great shape. They associate often with pilots in training at Gerstner Field, also in Louisiana.
