hello all...just wanted to share one of my pieces that i have had for quite awhile....it is what I believe to be a German 75mm shell belonging to a Frenchmen

it has a nice patina so it's a little difficult to photograph and it will NEVER be polished

the motif's are a long stemmed rose, the gallic rooster on top of a pickelhaube with a "souvenir de guerre" script

at the bottom of the rooster is a spot which is engraved " Merckem"...a village in Flanders near Ypres

hard to read - "Merckem"

the rose...also a spot for an engraved name but unfortunately(?) it is blank...
