Default " Old Contemptible" Trio to Coldstream Guards

As someone with a deep interest in the "Old Contemptibles", the British regulars of the BEF in 1914, I was very happy to acquire this trio to 4255 L/Cpl Albert Edward Fiske, Coldstream Guards. He enlsted on December 12,1913.
He arrived in France on 11 September, 1914, and was wounded by gunshot to the right thigh, causing his eventual discharge as physically unfit on 5 July, 1916. A short, but eventual time on active service.
Do not know which of the three Coldstream battalions he served in, as it is not noted in the papers sent. All three battalions were part of the BEF.

I just referred to "British Battalions in France & Belgium 1914", by Roy Westlake, and, as I recalled from earlier readings, the 1st Battalion of the Coldstream Guards took very heavy casualties in September & October.
During an attack at the Chemin des Dames on 14 September, they had 388 casualties, but even worse was to come at First Ypres in October.
On the 24th, they had 31 KIA, 93 WIA & 73 MIA. On the 29th, the 350 remaining were overwhelmed, with only one officer, the QM, and 60 other ranks remaining. Seven officers were killed, the others wounded or captured. 180 other ranks were killed, wounded, or missing. 60 others rejoined the next day. The First Guards Brigade suffered 1,100 casualties that day , with 275 all ranks remaining out of four battalions!
After four months of fighting, the 1st Battalion's casualties were 322 KIA, 678 WIA, and 199 POW, a total of 1,188.
L/Cpl Fiske was lucky to have survived.
These men's sacrifice should never be forgotten.
