US experimental steel helmet model No. 5 from 1918

Hello everyone,

today I would like to show you my latest purchase.

It is an American experimental steel helmet model No. 5 from 1918 (not an 5A from 1930), completely in original condition and almost unworn. They manufactured 2,000 pieces and tested some of them in France. The helmet also proved effective, but it was rejected because it looked too similar to the German M16. This appears to be one of the produced and unused examples.

Since the auction was today, it hasn't arrived yet but I'm looking forward to it and hope you like it too.
