I'm delighted to have this British MK1 tank track link, badly damaged but still looks cool.
And yes, it's very heavy

A very nice piece to have, but it would have been better with photographs of the track link actually at the location where it is said to have been found - alongside any other wreckage of the tank which might have still been there. I am not trying to pour cold water on this, but some time ago, there were two crooks from Lincolnshire who specialised in flogging battlefield items with paper labels tied to them - complete with details of where they were supposedly found. Unfortunately it was all made up.
As an aside, Tank 701 ditched after losing a track, and didn't make it to the starting point.
Cheers,
Steve
The Tank Museum have now been in touch and this is their reply..
(From Laura Sweetenham).
"The track plate/link is obviously not in great condition.
But as far as I can make out from the photos, it certainly looks to be part of a World War 1 British tank track and that is how I would identify it".
So, I'm happy with that.
