They look very similar to WWII DR trousers, do they have any sign of a removed label on the exterior around the back of them? I don't recognise the buttons so I might be completely wrong on these.

Despatch rider. As I posted, perhaps totally left of field then. If officers private purchase riding breeches then they are likely to be impossible to date, have you tried researching the button makers?

Look like USA WW1 pattern to me
Second USA, there was a National US button maker.
