    Great pictures. Amazing, by the way, that the US troops still carry the Krag in 1917!?

    Stunning Photos, I guess most of them had no idea what awaited them....Fencing with bayonets and a Padded quilt looks dangers.

    Hi Emile, this photo (copied here for reference) is the only one I had actually seen before.

    With the vast expansion of US forces in 1917 there were not enough '03 Springfields to go around. In that photo note the older pattern canteens still in service too.

    This makes me want to get my ww1 photographs valued now, I've got over 20 in one album. Included are before and after photos, including rebuilding projects, galipoli beach. As well as a photograph of General Hague and what I believe is Henri Petain (need to double check though)
