I was always after another trench art tank for my little mate that i've had for a few years now.. (Bottom 2 Pictures).

Minus his guns and I do believe it was attached to a wooden base at some point, he is in decent shape.

So, this little fellow is now his new friend. (Top).

    More pictures..

I think the hole in the bottom is for a screw to attach it to a base of some kind?

I'm going to add some guns to it, some one has removed the original ones

The word "Souvenir" is written on it's back.

    I'm happy

    Bullet markings?

These are on the underneath of the gun ports.

One has "H A" I think and the other has "18 S6", again I'm not sure.

    Any ideas?

nice pieces.....it is my understanding that much like the Germans in post-WW2 time frame, French shopkeepers were also producing these type of items as war souvenirs for soldiers after the war had ended.... not everyone tinkered away in the trenches and these were likely from one of those shops as well....very cool items

The gun ports are made from German cartridges, I guess you knew that. Great find.

The HA is not! It is VII upside down and is from a Round .303in Ball MkVII from either Britain or allied forces. The other is a bog standard German 7.92mm, (7.92X57mm or 8X57mm).
If you look you will se that the MkVII is a rimmed cartridge case where the 7.92mm is a rimless cartridge case.

Well, that cleared that up, one British .303 and a German 7.92mm round

So, it could be either a British or German Tank?
