Samland, I think that it was made after the war, probably a one-of-a-kind made for a particular customer who had a link to the 24th Panzer Division. Kellinghusen, in Schleswig-Holstein, is a well-known ceramics center, the sort of place that has several small studios producing hand-made ceramics. My mother had a ceramics studio in California at that time and her pieces shared many similarities with yours. Looking at your piece, it appears to be fired clay with hand-applied glaze. You can see the brush striations in the glaze on the bottom of the plate. The style and pattern is what we in the US call “stoneware,” a type that became popular in the 1950’s. That’s a nice piece to have with a connection to a well-known Panzer Division that was twice destroyed in WW2. Dwight
Dear Dwight ! Thanks for your interesting post ! 24 panzer division was founded in Konigsberg, East Prussia. I live in Kaliningrad (before 1945 Konigsberg), Therefore, this plate is interesting for me. But I like pre 1945 items

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
