Stonemint, the previous cap imo has a weird shape. The insignia look good but are not factory sewn. What do you think the story is here? I have seen the NSKK caps used in this style. Can it be simply spiced up with SS insignia by a collector?
I've seen the same NSKK mark on a SS PZ sidecap on EREL MILITARIA, but without the SS tag
Hi Athor, isn't this the exact same cap?
.....I think so.
...There's even the same holes made by the safety pin to tigh the two sides of the cap
But what do you think? I do not claim to be an expert at all. I have a feeling this is an NSKK with SS insignia attached post war (very roughly sewn).
I started a separate thread on the NSKK-SS overseas.
Cap is not an NSKK overseas, as they had an entirely different shape.
If it is real (insignia looks good), the maker simply used NSKK wool to make the cap.

Hi Stonemint, I have been looking for that thread mentioned but cannot find it. Can you please link it? Thank you.
I got this particular example in hand last week, and for me, there's nothing wrong with it....
Revisiting old thread time!
10 months have passed since this was listed and still hasn't sold.
Both insignias are originals to me. As Athor pointed out, there used to be a safety pin to create that cut we like to see.
If the cloth was NSKK marked and cut in SS shape, do you think the insignia were added period or postwar?
I just don't like how it was sewn. To be honest the price is quite decent compared to the textbook pieces.
