    Default work situation

What does the present or future look for your industry?
I'm in the construction industry. As an entrepreneur, I am interested in what is the situation in other countries.
Here in Finland we suffer after-effects of the recession.
And in a small town where I live, jobs are scarce. (Especially in winter), I have to actually visit next city half the time. Approximately 2 hours of driving each day + customer visits in the evenings. ( best summer months are 450+ hours of work and winter bad months are 60 hours of work) Thankfully in building industry next few years there will be large amounts people to retire. Maybe the job situation will improve in the coming years.

But how it looks in your country? in your work?

ps. Those who are retired, this of course does not apply to you.

I don't know what future will bring...
But when I look around at construction sites, I see a lot of Polish license plate plates on the cars parked around.
When parcels are delivered by other firms then Belgian posts, we generaly speak English, because most delivery guy's and girls are foreigners. Even some vans bear foreign license plates, mostly German and Dutch.
Garbage in the next Belgian town is picked up by a Dutch firm.......
(The site note is that we have 500.000 unemployed citizens...)

And a good friend who is in the metal industry(and doing very well!) is working on a new ship in Holland, bearing the name of a ex SS member, and he as got Jewish roots....
Bank pc's are ready to calculate negative interest on our savings.
.....so I am a bit confused when people ask me what future will bring.......
    cheers

here shows again a lot of Estonian license plates. no one knows what the future looks like. But there is always something indications of which direction the world is going to ...
But that's what you told your own country, it is interesting, and that kind of information I wanted people to write in this discussion.
    So thanks!

I have work through the end of May but after that, I'm not sure.
Our sales are way, way down from what they were before the recession.
People are afraid to spend any money.

    Things are picking up here.

Lots of workers here from other EU countries. I have no problem when people come here to work.

I may have to turn work down as I have enough to keep me busy. My days of working silly hours are long gone.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks guys for the concern.
It's a strange business. I am working 12 hour days, 6 days a week to try to make
our dead line for this project but so far with out any project yet on the books to
follow it. --- Something usually comes up.
