    I think these are East German

    A postwar torch for sure. Wartime ones were almost always painted black, had coloured lens filters, and sometimes had a blackout hood over the bulb.

    Hello,
    I have never seen the flashlight that opened this thread, but ARTAS is a legit producer of WWII flashlights.
    As B.B. mentioned, they were usually painted black, with colored lens filters and always had a retaining system (leather tabs or metal wire).
    Some Flashlights have also been produced with grey or dark green factory paint.

    Doesn't really look military, perhaps fire brigade or even mining?
