Hi all,
I am new to the forum.
I am a bookseller based in Sussex.
I would like some help with some German ww2 photographs I have found amongst the stock!
This one for a start has me baffled.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Stephen.

They are German soldiers of the Heer [Army].
The one on the left and the one in the center are wearing the washable, off-white Drillich work-/fatigue uniform, the one on the right is in a greatcoat; all three are wearing field caps.
All of them are enlisted men; the rank of the man on the right - as we can tell from his sleeve chevron - is Gefreiter.
Don't know about the piece of machinery they are posing with; perhaps a tank engine?
Hope this helps.
Many thanks, do you have any idea what that engine? is? and it looks like a helmet on a stick? in the background.
I have enhanced the photograph as much as possible.
As said before it could be a tank motor, maybe an armoured car or half track. Hard to tell for sure!...
