Another photo from the stash of stuff I recently found. I've also got mixed reviews on these collar tabs. So - are they WW II or WW I vintage, and German or Austrian?
They are German and from the Third Reich period.
These are the 1942 model collar patches for officials of the Justizwachtmeisterdienst [i.e. the judicial security officers serving in courts of law] with the most senior rank of Oberbotenmeister. (Collar patches for the four lower ranks didn't have the gold center stripe.)
The color for these collar patches matched that of the robes worn by the judges and prosecutors in the respective court: Carmine for the Volksgerichtshof, red for the Reichsgericht and black - as seen here - for courts below that level.
