Just picked up a very nice pair of early Luftstreitkräfte collar tabs. Very minty, the wool has some wear though. Embroidery like this is a beautiful thing to look at, much more attractive than stamped metal, right?

A very nice pair, and as you say... the embroidered type are so much better than the later cheapskate versions!

For comparison, the later stamped metal version of this type of tabs. It's also worth noting that the silver cord around the tabs is made from a thinner, cheaper material than in the earlier version that has a thick aluminum cord, much like many ww2-era tabs. The switch from embroided to stamped metal tabs happened in 1966.
