SS Anstecknadel - real or fake

Good afternoon everybody. The second of today's offerings is this SS stick pin. Any thoughts on its authenticity?

Unfortunately I believe these are not authentic. There are many like these for sale for a fairly hefty price and they do seem convincing. I believe the only known examples are marked either Gahr or Hoffstätter, and numbered. I also have one and have entertained the thought that some of these better examples were made from loose SS dagger insignia soldered onto a pin form. That is just a speculation on my part. You will get a definitive answer on this from more experienced SS collectors.
