Not super rare. It’s happens but still fun when you have a lot number same as your buddies. I noticed the other day my police helm is the same as another member who has a vast collection. Cool to see and compare. And know that they were made same day .... week ? So many years ago and now here they are in 2020. Interesting.
Anyway ...Multiple helmets from diff branches Of the Wehrmacht could be made from one batch of steel and have same lot number.

Thanks for the info, now I wonder if I should get it or not. Two M40 ND same lot number made within a short span of each other somewhere in Germany nearly 80 years ago and now reunited in my collection.
I don't really need new reasons to buy more stuff but it sure helps. Thanks, Al

The M40 arrived today. Nice looking helmet with considerable more wear than the other one. The color is different as well. Both are stamped Q66 lot# S2422.

A good lesson in what can happen condition wise over the years with handling and ....whats that other thing called? ...oh ...World War 2... and storage...travel... and all the rest of it. These were prob identical looking 80 years ago. Now they look pretty darn different. Nice
