re: Rare Estonian/ Polish helmet M40 ( Wz39)
Hello Dimas,
I am a bit confused about this helmet.
There is of course a similarity between the Swedish M37, the Finnish M40 and this Estonian M40.
In the last pic there is the typical Polish strap and in other pics you see the French brackets?!?
Is this Estonian M40 a Polish experimental and the Swedish M37 (and Finn M40) a derivative? Or the other way round?
Or was the M37 a separate and independent development?
I wonder and am confused.
Cheers,
Emile

Poland bought the painted shells, and placed to that shell French type liner ( the holes they made by themselfs) and rivets was painted over as a different paint recognized. Polish chinstrap was added too, as seen on the previous types of Polish helmets as WZ 31. The Polish approval commision has declined the helmet, as they count that WZ 31 is better than this. And Poland has sold all the bunch of that helmets to Estonia... I think in Poland they known as a prototype M 39 helmet
